We have been a part of TopKick Martial Arts for over five years now. My family has participated in just about every program they have to offer (tae kwon do classes, KUT classes, afterschool program and summer camp). Every aspect of topkick is top-notch. The facility is warm and welcoming, the staff and instructors are very friendly and always encouraging. I would highly recommend TopKick!

I waited to give a review because I wanted to form a true opinion. My opinion is that TopKick is outstanding and the instructors are awesome.
My son has been coming to TopKick in South Riding for a little over two months. He's been in Sunmer Camp and evening classes. He loves it and hates to miss class. He's not only learning Taekwondo, he's learning discipline and his behavior has improved. My son has always been a good kid, he's just getting better.
I am extremely happy we made this decision to bring him to TopKick.

Is your child stressed out?

As adults, we think a lot about stress. Modern life is difficult. We worry about paying the bills, doing our jobs well – and we worry about our kids.

That’s part of our jobs as parents, but we don’t want our kids to be affected by stress. It’s not good for them physically or emotionally.

Still, stress is part of life – and some kids are more prone to it than others. In fact, some of us are just naturally anxious. If your child struggles with stress and anxiety, you’ll be happy to know that studying martial arts can help.

Let’s talk about why. There are a few specific things that happen in a martial arts class that help.

Kids learn mindfulness, and that helps them maintain focus and learn to stop worrying about things they can’t control.

Martial arts classes provide kids with an intense workout, and exercise releases feel-good hormones called endorphins that counter the body’s stress response.

Our students learn how to take potentially negative emotions like anger and anxiety and channel them into physical movements and study.

Studying martial arts strengthens the mind/body connection and helps kids improve self-control and decrease their tendency to worry.

One of the biggest benefits of learning to cope with stress early is that it decreases the chances that your child will suffer from stress and anxiety later in life. We all need coping mechanisms, and the work kids do in our classes provides them.

Of course, we can’t say that your child will never experience stress if you sign them up to take a class with us. But what we can say is this: they’ll learn the things they can do to manage stress and prevent it from affecting them negatively.
